IEEE APEC: “Loss Analysis During Dead Time and Thermal Study of Gallium Nitride Devices” Paper
PhD candidate Haiyu Zhang presented his paper entitled “Loss Analysis During Dead Time and Thermal Study of Gallium Nitride Devices” at the 2015 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
Thesis Defense: Mr. Bo Tian
REAPER Lab congratulates Mr. Bo Tian for successfully defending his MS thesis, “A Single-phase Rectifier With Ripple-power Decoupling and Application to LED Lighting.” Mr. Tian’s research studied a generalized approach to double-frequency power ripple suppression suitable for solid state lighting (LED) rectifiers. Existing commercialized technologies uses circuitry and compenent that have well-known wear-out and failure modes that limit these products from achiving the service life of the LED semiconductor chip. Mr. Tian’s contributions are expected to enable solid state lighting to offer vastly superior lifetime and flicker performance while at the same time fitting to the form-factor of conventional technologies to support retrofit applications for LED lighting.
IEEE PECI: “”Model Predictive Decoupled Power Control” Paper
PhD candidate Mohammad Shadmand presented his paper, co-authored with PhD candidate Xiao Li, entitled “Model Predictive Decoupled Power Control for Single-phase Grid-tied Inverter” at the at the 2015 IEEE Power and Energy Conference at Illinois (PECI) in Champaign, Illinois, USA.
