REAPER Lab congratulates Ms. Poornima Gulur Chakrapani for successfully defending her M.S. thesis entitled, “A Developmental Workflow for Rapid Prototyping of FPGA-Based Model Predictive Control (MPC),” on June 10, 2026. Ms. Chakrapani’s research developed a rapid prototyping workflow for FPGA-based Model Predictive Control (MPC) in power electronics applications. She implemented the controller using MATLAB/Simulink, HDL Coder, Intel Quartus, and Typhoon HIL, with a focus on fixed-point implementation and FPGA resource optimization through significant Adaptive Logic Module (ALM) reduction.
Ms. Chakrapani earned her B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from BNM Institute of Technology, India, and completed her M.S. in Computer Engineering at the REAPER Lab at Texas A&M University. She will be joining Apple as a SoC Physical Design Engineer in San Jose, California.
